The Wild Deserters

For my thesis project I chose the subject matter of an urban legend known as “The Wild Deserters”. The story is based during the first world war and is about a group of soldiers who deserted their military and joined together to survive. The legend suggests that these soldiers went crazy from shell shock, poisonous gases, and other terrors of war causing them to desert their country. There are two variations of the story, one involving the group of deserters rampaging through the countryside killing each other and any other soldier in their way. The other version of the story involves the band of soldiers uniting together to survive, and welcoming in other soldiers in order to pull through the war.
